The Department of Computer Science & Applications at Immaculate College for Women successfully organized National Science Day 2025 on February 28th, commemorating the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman. This event aimed to ignite scientific curiosity among students and promote awareness of the vital role of science in addressing contemporary challenges. The key objectives of National Science Day 2025 were:

  • To celebrate the contributions of Indian scientists, particularly Sir C.V. Raman.
  • To foster a spirit of scientific inquiry and innovation among students.
  • To provide a platform for students to showcase their scientific knowledge and skills.
  • To promote awareness about the importance of science in sustainable development.
  • To encourage participation and collaboration among students from different disciplines.

Events and Activities

The event featured a diverse range of competitions and activities, providing myriad opportunities for student engagement:

1. Quiz Competition

Quiz competition was conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, this quiz allowed students to answer multiple-choice questions sourced from the Science Day special edition newspaper. Each team, consisting of two students, had 25 minutes to complete the quiz. The system ensured transparency and efficiency by automatically recording scores and time.

2. Just a Minute (JAM)

This extempore speaking event challenged students to articulate their thoughts on science-related topics within a minute. It honed their communication and critical thinking skills, encouraging quick thinking and clarity of expression.

3. Multimedia Presentation

Students showcased their creativity by presenting multimedia projects on themes related to Science Day. These presentations highlighted innovative ways technology can contribute to a better future and celebrated personalities behind significant scientific inventions.

4. Science Photography

This event encouraged students to explore the beauty and intricacies of science through photography. Participants submitted photographs that captured scientific phenomena and concepts in unique and captivating ways.

Participation and Attendance

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various disciplines. The competitions were well-attended, and the audience actively engaged with the presentations and demonstrations. Faculty members and staff also contributed to the event's success, enhancing the overall experience.
