MENTORING SYSTEM: FOSTERING ACADEMIC & PERSONAL EXCELLENCE

At Immaculate College for Women, we believe that every student possesses unique potential that requires consistent nurturing and guidance. To ensure the holistic development of our students, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has implemented a robust Mentor-Mentee System.

This system bridges the gap between students and faculty, creating a supportive environment where young women can grow into confident, skilled, and socially responsible leaders.

1. Structure & Implementation

The mentoring process is systematized across all departments to maintain high standards of quality and uniformity:

  • Optimal Ratio: The total student strength is divided into small, manageable groups of 20–25 mentees.
  • Dedicated Mentors: Each group is assigned a faculty member who acts as a guide, advisor, and advocate for the students' academic and personal welfare.
  • IQAC Oversight: All mentoring activities follow a standardized Mentoring Format and Guidelines to ensure every student receives equal attention and quality support.
2. The Mentoring Book: A Record of Growth

Mentors maintain a comprehensive and confidential Mentoring Book for every student. This serves as a continuous record of the student’s journey at ICW, documenting:

  • Academic Profile: Tracking internal marks, university results, and learning hurdles.
  • Attendance & Discipline: Monitoring regularity and engagement in campus life.
  • Holistic Development: Recording general particulars, talents, and areas where the student requires extra motivation.
  • Progressive Guidance: Detailed notes on individual sessions and improvements observed over time.
3. Continuous Support & Individual Care

Mentorship at ICW is not just administrative; it is deeply personal:

  • Monthly Interactions: Mentors meet with their mentees individually every month to discuss academic progress, personal challenges, and career aspirations.
  • Guidance & Mentoring: Mentors are trained to offer immediate advice and academic counseling, helping students overcome obstacles as and when they arise.
  • Accountability: Detailed reports of these interactions are submitted to the IQAC monthly to monitor the efficacy of the support system and ensure student needs are met.
4. Our Mission: A Home Away From Home

The goal of the ICW Mentoring System is to foster a strong bond between faculty and students. By providing "a home away from home," we ensure that our students are not only academically proficient but also emotionally resilient and ready to face the world with confidence.
